The following policies have been established so our senior participants enjoy the onsite programs and services at the center. All participants, family members, and caregivers must agree to abide by our herein policies and any postings at the center.
Participants must be residents of Shelby County and 55 years and older.
Participants must be ambulatory and able to perform activities of independent daily living such as eating and using the restroom facilities without assistance. If a senior requires assistance, he/she must employ a caregiver or arrange for a family member to be present.
Participants who exhibit confusion or may have the tendency to wander must be accompanied at all times by a family member or caregiver.
The Center and Heardmont Park are non-smoking locations.
Use of derogatory comments, slurs, abusive language that is threatening, loud, insulting, or harassing, or other disruptive behaviors will result in expulsion from the Center.
Fighting, physical abuse, challenging others to fight, destroying or damaging property are prohibited and will result in expulsion from Center. Center personnel or volunteers will notify the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Shelby County Park and Recreation Authority (SCPARA) staff take no responsibility for the security of any article belonging to participants and are not responsible for loss, damage, or theft.
SCPARA personnel are not authorized medical personnel and cannot take responsibility for participants whose medical conditions require nursing or direct medical assistance. Onsite personnel and volunteers will contact 911for immediate medical attention. Onsite personnel, volunteers and participants have access to an AED.
Cell phone use shall be limited to outside the program areas. Cell phone use during programs/activities is disruptive to the enjoyment of programs by other participants.
Guest speakers may educate participants on a product or service during a speaking engagement and may leave materials for contact but may not conduct sales of any kind on the premises.
Pets are not permitted at the facility. The only permissible animals that may accompany participants at the facility are registered service animals.
Program participants are required to execute the applicable SCPARA document should a caregiver or family member be attending a program or service at the Center.
The Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. Please check the Center’s monthly calendar for all programs or special events.
SCPARA staff or designated volunteers supervise all programs or events held at the Center during the daily operating hours of 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Use of the Center and its front or back porches after operational hours is governed by the adopted lease/usage policy.
